Lake District

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lake District is one of the UK's most popular National Parks. It's is not hard to see why, with its mirror-like lakes, picturesque towns and villages and rugged mountains. In spite of the crowds in the most-visited areas, you don't have to travel far to find complete solitude, with only the sheep and wildlife for company. This region is home to England's highest mountain, Scaffell Pike as well as it's deepest lake, Wastwater, while popular Lake Windermere is the largest lake in Great Britain.
