Gibraltar
Gibraltar, often known as 'The Rock', is a British overseas territory at the southern tip of Spain. At only 3 miles long, it is a tiny outcrop but bursting with fascinating history and wildlife. Famous for its monkeys (they are actually a type of macaque) which inhabit the lofty peak of the rock, these are Europe's only wild monkeys. The rock is riddled with natural caves and man-made tunnels and fortifications, and from the top there are wonderful views across to Morocco. Huddled in the shadow of the rock, the town is a colourful and bustling mixture of Spanish and British culture.
